The law: A precast concrete HV substation must comply with IEC/EN 62271 standards (notably EN 62271-202 for prefabricated HTA/LV substations), which define the electrical, mechanical and safety requirements. The concrete structure must comply with Eurocodes (EN 1992) for reinforced concrete and local seismic and climatic rules. Personal safety aspects (earthing, protection against direct/indirect contacts, internal arcs) fall under IEC 61936-1 and EN 50522. Finally, the installation must be compatible with the national rules of the network operator (e.g. Enedis/GRDF depending on country), including ventilation, access, signage and acceptance tests..
